RCA pulled out of a semiconductor plant project.

Citing overcapacity in the industry, RCA withdrew from a plan to construct a $230-million electronics factory in Camas, Wash., with Sharp Electronics of Japan. The joint venture, in which RCA held a 51% interest, included a headquarters and a semiconductor manufacturing plant on 120 acres. Construction was halted in February. General Electric, RCA’s new parent company, is to remain owner of the site and company officials have agreed to work with the state to find another semiconductor concern that could complete the project.
