Two men died after an early Sunday morning accident on the Golden State Freeway in Pacoima in which a car rear-ended a disabled vehicle the pair were trying to push off the freeway.
The men were pushing a car on the Golden State Freeway south of Osborne Street, when a car crashed into them, said Officer Lujuana Lopez of the California Highway Patrol.
The victims were pinned between the cars until until they could be freed and taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills. One man, described as a Pacoima resident in his early 20s, died a short time later. The other, suffering major injuries to his lower body, died Sunday afternoon, Lopez said. The names of both victims were withheld pending notification of relatives.
The driver who rear-ended the car was questioned and later released by authorities, Lopez said.
