Three New York City undercover officers joined an Oriental crime ring last year in a ceremony in which they pricked their fingers, let their blood mingle in a wine glass and sipped from the glass, one officer testified. The induction into the group known as United Bamboo was recorded by a hidden camera. The videotape was played in the trial of 11 men charged with being affiliated with the gang. Prosecutors contend that the group was active in Asian communities in California, New York and Texas, and that it carried out the murder of a Chinese-American writer who was critical of the Taiwan regime.
