Israeli officials are contesting subpoenas from American federal grand juries investigating whether Israel illegally tried to export U.S. cluster bomb technology, the New York Times reported. The subpoenaed Israelis reportedly work in their country’s military purchasing office in New York. U.S. officials said at least eight Israelis were summoned to testify about whether U.S. firms and Israelis conspired to provide Israel with U.S. technology to make cluster bombs, which contain many smaller bombs that separate and explode.
