Private aircraft entering the United States from Mexico may no longer land at Lindbergh Field in San Diego under a new rule imposed by the U.S. Customs Service. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Coronado) said it has been too easy for drug smugglers to drop their loads on the way to Lindbergh or to hide in the air traffic congestion there. Brown Field and Calexico International Airport now will be the only designated airports for inspection of private planes entering California.
