Award-Winning Interior Designer Robert T. Hanley

Robert T. Hanley, an award-winning interior designer whose work can be seen in the California Senate chamber in Sacramento, Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia and several prominent Southland restaurants, including Scandia, Lawry’s and Five Crowns, has died of a heart attack.
He was 71 when he died Tuesday in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
A native of Canada, Hanley was given the Order of the British Empire for his U.S. Army service during World War II. He enlisted as a private and emerged a lieutenant colonel with a Bronze Star.
Hanley, a former past president of the Southland Chapter of the American Institute of Interior Designers, was given the Los Angeles Home Furnishings Mart’s Golden Chair Award in 1965.
His survivors include a son, Tony Howard Hanley.
