I feel compelled to comment in regard to James Metropole’s attack on acting schools and teachers which appeared in the Aug. 3 Letters Annex. While there may indeed exist “phonies” and “gurus” in Hollywood who “live off the dreams of their pathetic disciples,” many concerned, caring and competent acting instructors offer their students opportunities to gain practical experience and self-knowledge invaluable to the aspiring amateur or professional actor.
