A Coast Guard cutter will help American fishermen retrieve 150 crab pots left behind when two Soviet vessels chased a U.S. boat from disputed waters in the Bering Sea, officials said. “The cutter, aided by Coast Guard aircraft C-130 overflights, will determine the location of the crab pots and maintain surveillance . . . while our crab boats retrieve their pots,” Sen. Frank H. Murkowski (R-Alaska) said from his Washington office. The 108-foot crabber Katie K was about 160 miles west of St. Matthew Island, in an area claimed by both the United States and the Soviet Union, when it was fired upon and pursued by two Soviet vessels last Wednesday.
