An autopsy was ordered to determine what caused the death of a man who died in the jail ward at County-USC Medical Center after becoming ill while confined in the Central Jail. Sheriff’s deputies said David C. White, 31, was arrested Aug. 1 and was awaiting preliminary hearing on a charge of forcible rape. A sheriff’s spokesman said White complained of shortness of breath Saturday night and died about three hours after being admitted to the hospital.
