A federal judge refused to order a new trial on the claim of a songwriting couple that singer-actress Dolly Parton had stolen their music for the hit song “9 to 5.” A jury ruled against Neil and Jan Goldberg in their copyright infringement suit in December, and U.S. District Judge Terry Hatter said there was no new evidence to justify a second trial. Nonetheless, Neil Goldberg said outside the courtroom that he will take his demand for a new trial to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
