MIAMI — U.S. Customs officals auctioned 65 boats, vehicles and planes but could not find a bidder for President Harry S. Truman’s private presidential yacht, the Williamsburg.
Auctioneers Wednesday asked a minimum price of $150,000 for the yacht, but there were no bidders.
“It’s got bushes growing through the deck,” said Mike Scott, who attended the auction. The sale catalogue advertised the 245-foot yacht, built in 1929, as “Truman’s favorite.”
