British Drug Charge Against Pop Singer Marilyn Dismissed

LONDON — A magistrate today dismissed a heroin charge against pop singer Marilyn, a friend of singer Boy George, because the prosecution offered no evidence.

“It was not what I expected--I am ecstatic and I am very happy,” said Marilyn as he ran from court pursued by fans and reporters.

Marilyn, 23, whose real name is Peter Robinson, had been charged with possessing heroin. He was arrested during a series of raids on people believed to be supplying Boy George with heroin.

The prosecutor, Brian McArdle, told Marylebone Magistrates Court that the only evidence against Marilyn was his own admission of having used heroin in New York and London. He said there is no evidence that Marilyn ever supplied heroin to anyone.
