Fire Hazard in Santa Clarita Valley?

I am a Saugus resident who enjoys the rural fun life of the un-Metro Santa Clarita Valley. When I read your article about George Hadnot’s “shanty ranch” (Aug. 8), I was furious at Jo Ann Darcy, Supervisor Mike Antonovich’s aide, for her comment about a fire hazard.
Is Jo Ann Darcy employed by Newhall Land & Farming Co. or what?
She states that the ranch can be dangerous to expensive homes in an adjacent canyon. She also refers to them as a tract of houses. There are no houses, or should I say, no tract of houses within 1 miles.
