A financial planner has been charged with 12 counts of grand theft for allegedly bilking nearly $800,000 from clients who thought they were purchasing an apartment building in Fresno, officials said. Ron Ray Unruh, 39, of Campbell is accused of duping at least 12 clients into investing in the same property, all believing they had obtained second deeds of trust on a six-unit apartment building, said Santa Clara County Deputy Dist. Atty. Gene Baldwin, who is prosecuting the case. The deeds turned out to be phony. “The property turned out to be a loser,” Baldwin said.
