In the review of Paul McCartney’s album “Press to Play,” Terry Atkinson refers to one of the tracks as Barry Manilow slop (Record Rock, Aug. 31).
I am sick and tired of dismissal of Manilow in the music industry. First it was the Grammys overlooking “2 A.M. Paradise Cafe,” then the Emmys for completely overlooking the music in the movie “Copacabana.”
Now Atkinson is dismissing his music as slop. Come on people, Manilow has had a lot of influence on popular music and I think it’s about time he gets the credit he deserves.
