Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood will be closed until 5 a.m. Monday for the city’s Street Festival ’86.
The festival, which began Saturday, opens at 10 a.m. today and ends at 10 p.m. Admission is free.
“A Celebration of Customs and Cultures” includes ethnic foods, arts and crafts, dancing, entertainment, beer gardens, games, rides and exhibits reflecting the diversity of West Hollywood, officials said.
Entertainment includes performances by Mary Wilson, formerly of the Supremes; jazz musician Papa John Creach; Latin salsa musician Pancho Sanchez, and rock musicians Billy and the Beaters.
A variety of dance music ranging from folk to disco will be offered in two pavilions.
In conjunction with the festival, the city will hold its second Tom Proctor 5-K and 10-K Run and Walkathon at 8 a.m. today at West Hollywood Park, Santa Monica and San Vicente boulevards. Proceeds will benefit the Los Angeles Free Clinic and Gay and Lesbian Adolescent Social Services.
