Security has been stepped up and guests are being advised to keep their valuables in the hotel safe, the manager of San Francisco’s Holiday Inn at the Financial Center said after complaints that a thief has stolen thousands of dollars worth of cash and belongings from rooms over the last six months. British businessman Rick Bellman, 41, said he lost $12,000 in cash and valuables and complained that he was not warned of the rash of burglaries. George Bath, the hotel’s general manager, said such warnings are routinely posted in rooms.
