Air Conditioning
This is in reference to the letter (Sept. 3) regarding the lack of air conditioning in schools.
Thousands of us in the 1960s and 1950s attended summer schools in the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys before air conditioning for schools was even considered.
The phrase we are looking for today is “want to.” We wanted to learn, graduate early, etc. Do today’s kids want to learn in school or are they going because their parents say they have to? If they want to learn, they will, air conditioning or none. Kids today are already too spoiled; they don’t need more coddling.
