Arson caused more than $130,000 damage to the Prince of Peace Benedictine Monastery in Oceanside early Thursday, Capt. Jim Denny of the Oceanside Fire Department said.
He said the first fire units arrived at the monastery on Benet Hill Road at 1:34 a.m. and found flames engulfing a large metal building and fires burning in two storage sheds and a trailer.
It took 30 firefighters half an hour to bring the four fires under control. A firefighter who suffered a back injury was treated at Tri-City Hospital and released.
Oceanside fire and police departments are investigating.
