Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Rahal had a lap of 162.918 m.p.h. to take the pole position for today’s Fiesta Bowl 200 at Phoenix International Raceway. Jeff MacPherson of Fullerton broke his right elbow and his right cheekbone in an accident during practice.
