Local News in Brief : Motorcyclist, 21, Dies in Van Nuys Collision

A21-year-old Van Nuys man died Friday night after his motorcycle was struck by a car, throwing him to the pavement at the intersection of Kester Avenue and Sylvan Street in Van Nuys, Los Angeles police said.
Jesse Villicana, who was not wearing a safety helmet, died of massive head injuries at Northridge Hospital Medical Center at 8:35 p.m., about two hours after the accident.
The car’s driver, David Whiteis, 26, of Van Nuys, was treated for a cut lip and released. But police said they will seek to charge Whiteis with vehicular manslaughter.
According to police, Villicana was riding south on Kester when Whiteis, traveling north, turned into his path at Sylvan Street.
