Faith Baptist 35, Buckley 6--Tailback Randy Lutz rushed for 77 yards on seven carries and scored two touchdowns to lead Faith Baptist in the Delphic League opener for both schools.
Playing tailback for the first time in three weeks because of a separated left shoulder, Lutz scored one of his touchdowns on a blocked punt. He also had a 30-yard touchdown run nullified by a holding penalty in the third quarter.
“Now that we’ve got him back, we’re going to use him,” Faith Baptist Coach Harry Morgan said of Lutz.
Faith Baptist, ranked fourth in the Eight-Man Large School Division, improved its record to 5-2, 1-0 in league play.
Although Buckley, which led 6-0 after one quarter on quarterback Luka Pecel’s one-yard touchdown run, yielded 208 yards rushing, Coach Chris Schultz said it was Buckley’s (2-5, 0-2) best performance of the season.
“We’re only 10 players deep,” Schultz said about his 10-man roster. “We play with eight two-way players. It makes us tired.”
