A 40-year-old man died after he collapsed during an altercation with another man at a North Park tavern, San Diego police said.
Deputy Coroner George Dickason identified the victim as Harvey E. Thompson of San Diego.
San Diego Police Sgt. Hank Olais said Thompson stopped breathing and collapsed when a conversation between Thompson and another man at the Slip Inn bar “escalated into a fracas” after the final World Series game on Monday. Thompson was taken to Hillside Hospital, where he died at 9:26 p.m.
Police questioned and released the other man, but the investigation is continuing. Olais said that the cause of death had not been determined but that Thompson, who weighed 300 pounds, may have had a heart attack.
