FALL SPORTS HIGHLIGHTS : Agoura Advances to Second Round

Singles player Cathy Teobaldi and double players Cindy Nielson and Jennifer Frizelle led undefeated Agoura High to a 14-4 victory over South Pasadena in the first round of the Southern Section 3-A tennis playoffs at Agoura on Thursday.
Teobaldi won all three of her singles matches, defeating Darlet Yee, 6-2, Kim Dagermangy, 6-0, and Natalie DeGarger, 6-0. Teammates Jennifer Whitney and Trisha Silverman won two of three singles sets. Agoura (18-0) plays Bishop Montgomery in the second round on Saturday.
GIRLS TENNIS
Thousand Oaks 15, Lakewood 3--Singles players Rachel Collins, Kirstin Smith and Constance McKenna won eight of nine sets for Thousand Oaks, which advanced to the second round of the Southern Section 3-A playoffs.
San Marino 16, Hart 2--The Southern Section’s top-ranked 3-A team eliminated Hart from the playoffs with a lopsided win at San Marino.
Chaminade 14, Lompoc 2--Faire Stanley and Abigail Villena won in singles play, and Sarah Eite and Sandy Hua won in doubles for Chaminade (14-2) in the first round of the Southern Section 2-A playoffs at Chaminade.
Louisville 14, Righetti 4--Lauralyn McCarthy won three matches as Louisville advanced to the second round of the Southern Section 2-A playoffs.
Other scores: Keppel 16, Saugus 2; Cleveland 5, El Camino Real 2.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Burroughs def. Oak Park, 15-3, 15-1, 15-6--Karin Knoop had 12 kills for Burroughs (15-3) in the first round of the Southern Section 3-A playoffs at Burroughs.
Calabasas def. El Segundo, 15-3, 15-2, 15-8--Sandi Thomsen had nine kills to lead Calabasas (11-4) in the first round of the Southern Section 3-A playoffs.
Other scores: 3-A playoffs: La Reina def. Los Altos, 9-15, 15-7, 15-8, 15-8; Canyon def. San Marino, 15-13, 15-3, 15-1; 2-A playoffs: Simi Valley def. Montclair 15-2, 15-4, 15-3; Thousand Oaks def. Arroyo Grande 15-0, 15-8, 15-1.
WATER POLO
Royal 11, Hoover 6--Goalie Todd Jacobsen had 15 saves in Royal’s win in the first round of the 3-A Southern Section playoffs at Royal. Greg Frazier had six goals and Tom Wolf scored two for Royal, which plays Los Altos in the second round on Saturday.
Los Altos 9, Crespi 3--David Scott scored two goals for the Crespi (13-7).
Dos Pueblos 13, Newbury Park 8--Team captain Matt Coates scored five goals to lead Newbury Park in the first round Southern Section playoff match loss.
Other scores: 3-A playoffs: Glendale 10, Thousand Oaks 6.
BOYS CROSS-COUNTRY
Scores: Granada Hills 28, Birmingham 29.
BOYS SOCCER
Scores: Chatsworth 3, Reseda 0; Cleveland 2, El Camino Real 2; Granada Hills 3, San Fernando 3; Hollywood 3, North Hollywood 0.
