San Diego Section Tennis : Bonita Vista to Square Off Against Poway in 3-A Final

Bonita Vista High School will meet Poway for the San Diego Section 3-A girls’ tennis championship at noon today at San Pasqual High School.
At 9 a.m., La Jolla and Bishop’s will meet for the 2-A championship.
Bonita Vista advanced to the final with a 7-0 victory Friday over Mount Carmel. No. 1 singles player Cammie Foley defeated Christine Rilovick, 6-0, 6-2, and No. 2 Veena Prabhakan beat Abbie Denostra, 6-1, 6-0, to pace Bonita Vista, which won every match except No. 3 doubles in straight sets.
In the other semifinal match, Poway defeated Torrey Pines, 5-2.
Bishop’s beat Carlsbad, 6-1, to reach the 2-A final against La Jolla.
Bishop’s No. 1 singles player Shannon Crockett defeated Roseann Alva, 6-2, 6-1. The No. 1 doubles team of Branaca Elsberry and Annette Zillgens beat Heidi Rene and Allison Anja, 6-4, 6-1. Carlsbad won its only match in No. 2 singles, as Wendy McNabb beat Stephanie Willis, 6-1, 6-2.
La Jolla won its semifinal against San Pasqual, 7-0. Kim Khoury rallied to defeat Nicole Main, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, to pace La Jolla.
