Local News in Brief : German Restaurant Hit by $40,000 Kitchen Fire
- Share via
A Monday night fire caused an estimated $40,000 damage to a German restaurant in Van Nuys, Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said. The Old Heidelberg at 13726 Oxnard Street was closed when the kitchen fire began shortly after 6 p.m., Wells said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said, although investigators suspect it began as a grease fire in the kitchen, apparently in a stove duct.
It took about 40 minutes for 30 firefighters from six fire companies to extinguish the blaze, he said. No injuries were reported.
