Cyclist Fatally Injured When Struck by Auto

A motorcyclist was killed late Friday afternoon in the Gardena area when an automobile made a left turn into him as he rode with two or three other cyclists, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The victim, whose identity was withheld pending notification of relatives, died at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center after the accident at Rosecrans and Purche avenues. He reportedly was not wearing a helmet.
The automobile driver, Raymond Felix, 40, of Hawthorne, was not cited or arrested. The CHP said the investigation was continuing.
In the meantime, a man and woman killed when their car was demolished by a speeding automobile at Redondo Beach and Avalon boulevards Thursday evening were identified on Friday as Lovell I. Hunter, 27, and Gladys M. Coral, 22, both of Compton.
The driver of the other car, Terrence David, 23, who allegedly ran a red light at 80 m.p.h., was booked in the jail ward of County-USC Medical Center on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of a drug. He was treated for minor injuries.
