SAN DIEGO — A San Diego State football player was fined $150 and placed on a year’s probation after pleading no contest to charges stemming from an alleged altercation with former Olympic gymnast Kurt Thomas and a companion at a nightclub.
Michael Damien Wilder, a senior safety with the Aztecs, had been charged with disturbing the peace. He was sentenced Wednesday by Municipal Court Judge Frederic L. Link.
A jury acquitted Wilder in June of battery against Keith Campbell, a gymnast in Thomas’ touring company, but deadlocked on a battery charge involving Thomas.
Wilder was accused of fighting with the men at the Confetti nightclub in Mission Valley in January. The gymnasts were in San Diego to watch a cheerleading competition.
