State’s Future
There is no logic in much of Gov. George Deukmejian’s State of the State report of 1987. As our chief state executive, he is shortsighted in his plan to cut down on financial aid to college students. He says, we are the “state where America’s future begins”
What future? Not one that short-changes our young citizens; nor by further cuts in Medi-Cal; or by curtailing funds to counties caring for our indigent and elderly.
His “conservatism” conserves nothing . . . but trouble.
