Power Outage: About 3,000 homes and businesses were without electricity briefly Tuesday when a private contractor damaged an underground power line at the northeast corner of Jamboree Road and Coast Highway, a spokesman for Southern California Edison Co. said. The area affected was between Coast Highway and Bayside Drive from Marguerite Avenue to Bayshore Drive, according to Gene Carter of the utility. Power was restored to all but a few customers in less than an hour, he said, and no injuries were reported.
