Harbor Police divers found a badly burned body Tuesday aboard a 30-foot cabin cruiser that caught fire and sank in the Laurel Street basin.
San Diego County coroner’s officials said they were withholding the identity of the victim, a man in his 50s, pending notification of relatives. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
At 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, a passing Coast Guard craft spotted the fire. The cruiser sank in about 30 feet of water.
The body was not found until 11:45 a.m.
San Diego homicide detectives were called in to investigate the death.
