A resolution designating a day of remembrance for the Armenian genocide of 1915 “to set the record straight” was introduced in the House and Senate. Rep. Richard H. Lehman (D-Sanger) and Sen. Alan Cranston (D-Calif.) sponsored the resolution designating April 24 as a national day of remembrance for 1.5 million Armenians slaughtered by the Turkish Ottoman Empire from 1915 to 1923.
