Lamont Kirkland, who quit during the ninth round of his United States Boxing Assn. super-middleweight title fight with Lindell Holmes Tuesday night at the Forum, won’t be paid, pending an investigation by the California Athletic Commission.
Holmes, of Detroit, retained his title when Kirkland, who now lives in Pasadena, turned away from Holmes in the middle of an exchange and told referee Larry Rozadilla that he couldn’t continue. Rozadilla stopped the bout and declared Holmes the winner.
