Will the trend continue: It might be a good omen if College of the Canyons wins this week’s Stengel tournament. The tournament’s two previous winners, Canyons in 1986 and Cerritos in 1985, have won the state community college championship. Canyons was runner-up in ’85.
The Cougars (1-1) will meet Southwestern College at 2:30 this afternoon in the first round of the tournament at Rancho Santiago College in Santa Ana.
