The worlds of fashion and opera met Wednesday night at a $150-per-person benefit to help New York City Opera replace 10,000 costumes destroyed in a 1985 fire. Sixty-two designers showed off outfits inspired by 16 operas in order to help raise the $10 million to $12 million needed--$6.5 million has been raised so far. Members of the opera’s fire emergency fund hoped to raise $100,000 at the black tie affair.
