SATURDAY LETTERS : LONG, LONG LIVE ‘AMERIKA’
- Share via
ABC seems determined to fan the flames of paranoia in the country even if it kills them, and everybody else.
Aside from the gruesome propaganda of “Amerika” itself, there’s the glutting-on-air-all-day-all-night-anti-Russian promotion. All this at a time when even Henry Kissinger and Jeane Kirkpatrick agree that Gorbachev’s efforts to democratize his country seem to be progressing.
Obviously, the Reagan Administration needs to keep the hate going in order to break the ABM treaty and get his deadly so-called Star Wars program too entrenched for any future President to reverse. And ABC couldn’t be more helpful. After all they’re owned by Capital Cities, heavy Reagan supporters, and, like the plant in the “Little Shop of Horrors,” Capital Cities is demanding blood to feed it.
If its hate campaign takes, they’ll get plenty of it. Ours, the Russians and maybe even their own.
