AND WAIT, THERE’S MORE: If you can’t beg--then just grovel. Once upon a time--in fact, just last year--Spin Magazine did all it could to keep the Beastie Boys out of the rock magazine’s neo-legendary parties. Now that the rap brats are at the top of the charts (and on the cover of Spin’s March issue), the magazine is inviting--in fact, make that begging--the Boys to attend and perform at Spin’s second anniversary party, scheduled for March 19 in New York. The magazine has even sent out a a good-natured “emergency plea” to Spin contributors, readers and media types asking them to phone the Beasties’ record label and put in a good word for the magazine.
