A Cancan in Canton Calls for a Cover-up

BEIJING — Skimpy bikinis are all right for female weightlifters, but dancers in Canton have been ordered to cover up.
Municipal authorities in the southeastern city have decreed that bikinis may be worn only by body builders and not at public entertainments, the Canton Evening News said. Performances by “girl dancers in bikinis have had an extremely unhealthy social influence,” the newspaper said in the edition reaching Beijing on Wednesday.
