Conviction of Westwood Car Killer Upheld
The conviction of an Inglewood man who killed one pedestrian and injured dozens of others by driving a car down a Westwood sidewalk on the eve of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games has been upheld by a state Court of Appeal.
Justices earlier in the week rejected arguments by attorneys for Daniel Lee Young that his 1985 conviction should be reversed because the jury was misled to believe that if Young was found to be insane at the time of the assault, he would be immediately released into the community. In fact, the attorneys stated, Young, 22, would have been hospitalized.
