SAN DIEGO — San Diego State, which ended a 17-game losing streak Saturday with a 92-89 victory over Hawaii, plays host to Brigham Young University at 7:30 tonight in a Western Athletic Conference basketball game in the Sports Arena.
If the Aztecs (3-23 overall, 1-13 in the WAC) win either of their two remaining regular-season games this week, they will be the hosts of a first-round game in the WAC tournament Tuesday. SDSU’s final regular-season game is Saturday against Utah in the Sports Arena.
BYU (18-9, 10-4), in third place in the WAC , still is in the race for the conference championship behind Texas El Paso and Wyoming, which are 11-3.
The Cougars defeated the Aztecs earlier this season, 92-84, in Provo, Utah.
BYU’s Bob Capener, a Torrey Pines High School graduate, is listed as questionable for tonight’s game. Capener bruised his ribs in an automobile accident Sunday in Salt Lake City.
At 5 p.m., SDSU’s women’s team (9-9 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. and 10-15 overall) will play the University of the Pacific (5-11, 12-13).
