SAN DIEGO — The California Structures development company has exchanged a newly completed manufacturing facility in Otay Mesa for Sanyo E & E Corp.’s manufacturing plant in Kearny Mesa, company officials said Friday.
Sanyo moved in November from the Kearny Mesa plant to a new, 324,000-square-foot facility in an Otay Mesa industrial park that was developed by California Structures. Sanyo makes refrigerators at that plant.
California Structures, a San Diego-based development company, plans to renovate Sanyo’s 410,000-square-foot plant on Ruffin Road and divide it into modules that will be leased to distribution and manufacturing tenants.
The Otay Mesa plant is valued at $18.6 million and the Kearny Mesa plant is valued at $19.7 million, according to company officials.
