Two joggers found the body of a woman Sunday on Valley Road, sheriff’s deputies reported.
Deputy Coroner Dan Matticks said an autopsy revealed that the unidentified woman died of strangulation and a stab wound in the chest.
The body was found about 4:30 p.m. beneath a tree at the 3600 block of Valley Road, Matticks said. The woman’s feet and head were wrapped in a blanket, Matticks said.
Bill Baxter, a Sheriff’s Department homicide detective, said the fully clothed woman had been stabbed several times in the upper body, and appeared to have been dead more than 24 hours when she was found.
The victim is 5-foot-4, about 126 pounds, and has brown hair and eyes.
