Plans for drug testing of about 1,000 athletes participating in the Pan American Games this summer were announced by the Pan American Sports Organization.
The organization, which instituted extensive testing during the 1983 Pan Am competition, plans to test athletes for the use of diuretics for the first time and for blood-doping--the administration of blood into an athlete to enhance his performance.
