Gov. Mecham to Address Birch Society Gathering

PHOENIX — Gov. Evan Mecham says he will address the ultraconservative John Birch Society today in Seattle.
Mecham said he would discuss his view of the bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution and would receive an honorarium as well as his expenses. Mecham, a conservative Republican who said he is not a John Birch member, would not disclose how much the group is paying him.
