Firing of Soviet Officer Over Safety Reported

MOSCOW — A Soviet admiral has been fired for jeopardizing the safety of ships under his command during recent naval maneuvers, the army daily Krasnaya Zvezda reported Thursday.
It gave no details of the incident but said that Rear Adm. D. Golovko “rudely violated navy rules and security procedures” during the war games and that officers under his command have shown “lack of professionalism and discipline.”
