Horse-Drawn Carriage Flips, Hurts F.D.R. Son

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr., son of the late President, was listed in critical but stable condition Thursday at Vassar Brothers Hospital with injuries suffered when he was thrown from a horse-drawn carriage, officials said.
Roosevelt, 73, a former congressman, was riding in a carriage Wednesday with his wife, Linda, 47, and their 9-year-old son, Jack. The team of horses pulling the carriage was suddently startled and galloped away, turning over the carriage and throwing the three passengers to the ground.
Roosevelt’s wife broke an ankle and was treated at the hospital and released. The boy was not injured.
