WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court on Tuesday upheld a Federal Election Commission determination that Sen. John Glenn’s 1984 Democratic presidential campaign must repay $74,955 in public campaign funds.
The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a petition by the John Glenn Presidential Committee Inc. to overturn the FEC’s determination that the campaign had overspent public funds in New Hampshire and Iowa.
Glenn, a Democrat from Ohio, received $2.8 million in federal matching funds for the presidential primaries.
