Duarte : Museum Will Reopen
The Duarte Historical Museum Society, which closed its museum two years ago and stored 1,500 items, including a piano and an altar, will reopen July 11 at 1740 Huntington Drive. The museum will be open Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m.
The museum had been housed in the city’s former Parks and Recreation Department building, but the building was torn down to make room for an auto dealership. The society searched for free space but finally had to rent space, using income from a $150,000 trust fund.
In addition to artifacts from pioneer days, the museum will feature items from the 1880s, when Duarte was known for its citrus ranches.
