Elans Special Has Fastest Qualifying Time

RUIDOSO DOWNS, N.M. — Florida-bred filly Elans Special posted the top qualifying time Wednesday for the $600,000 Rainbow Futurity for 2-year-old quarter horses.
The futurity will be run July 19 at Ruidoso Downs. It is the second of the three major races for 2-year-olds held annually at the south-central New Mexico race track.
The series of big-purse races is topped by the $2.5-million All American Futurity on Labor Day, Sept. 7.
Elans Special won her 400-yard trial race in 19.86 seconds. Wicked Dash, with a clocking of 19.94, and Dash For Speed, with a time of 19.95 seconds, were second and third fastest, respectively.
