“Damaged/Jealous Again.” Black Flag. SST. “Damaged” remains the best and most important American hardcore-punk album ever recorded. With Greg Ginn’s stun guitar creating a mammoth wall of primeval sound and vocalist Henry Rollins railing maniacally against middle-class ethos, this landmark 1981 album sounds even more compelling in CD form. “Damaged” is charged with intense and unforgettable moments of rage, pain, defiance, hope and even humor. This CD also includes the now-defunct L.A. group’s 1980 “Jealous Again” EP. A terrific bargain. Sound quality: good. ****
